FUNERAL OF JAKE SHAW

Ian, Sophie and Fiona have asked that details of the funeral arrangements to “Celebrate the Life” of Jake, following his tragic passing at such a young age, be forwarded to friends.

As most of you already know, Jake was injured in an accident in Kandersteg, Switzerland on 2nd August and sadly passed away in Bern Hospital eight days later.

Because their local church is too small, the funeral service will be held at 2.00pm on Friday 29th August in a large and very welcoming church in central Lincoln.

Called Aliv, (formerly New Life), Church), the address is 22 Newland, Lincoln, LN1 1XD. (His burial at the family’s local church – St Marys, Welton – to be attended by just the immediate family, will follow the service).

“Alive” is a very large church, able to accommodate everyone. However, as it is located in the city centre, parking is only available in public car parks and so you are encouraged to allow plenty of time to find a space and walk to the church. (There are also road works near the church!). If you arrive early refreshments will be available from 1 p.m. and there is also a café serving lunches in the church.

Following the service everyone is welcome to join the family at Dunholme Village Hall, the next village to Welton. Food will be served and a bar will be open all afternoon/evening.

As regards a dress code - there isn’t one, and anything goes, whether that be outdoors/ climbing gear or suits!

The family has asked for family flowers only. They have nominated three charities that they know would be close to Jake’s heart should anyone wish to make a donation – Derby Mountain Rescue Team, the Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Rutland Air Ambulance and The Outward Bound Trust. Cheques, made payable to the charity of choice, or cash, can be left at the service or the Village Hall.

Any immediate questions should be directed towards the Funeral Director, Miss Kirby Cranshaw, Lincolnshire Cooperative Funeral Services, 01522-529-406, bbhfuneral@lincolnshire.coop.
